Chimanimani, Manicaland, Zimbabwe
The Chimanimani quartzite ranges are among the hardest rock formations in Zimbabwe — demanding specialist rigs and expert siting to reach productive aquifers for homes, lodges and farms in this remote mountain district.
Southern Eastern Highlands Specialists
Chimanimani's dramatic landscape is formed by the Chimanimani Quartzite Range — Precambrian sedimentary rocks metamorphosed into some of the hardest formations in Zimbabwe. Borehole drilling in this terrain is challenging: the quartzite is dense and abrasive, requiring specialist tungsten-carbide bits and experienced drillers. Depths of 40–100 m are typical, with productive zones most often found where northeast-trending fault and fracture systems cut through the quartzite, creating permeable channels for groundwater.
Chimanimani town and surrounding farming areas depend almost entirely on groundwater — the municipal supply is limited, and the mountain terrain makes piped infrastructure difficult to maintain. Lodges, guesthouses and mountain camp operators require reliable water, as do the smallholder and commercial farms in the lower valleys around Ngorima and Haroni. The Freddy Group's rigs are suited to hard-rock conditions and our siting teams have experience reading the fracture patterns of the Eastern Highlands quartzite.
Hard-Rock Quartzite Drilling
Specialist drilling into the Chimanimani Quartzite Range — equipped for Zimbabwe's hardest rock conditions at 40–100 m depth.
Lodge & Ecotourism Drilling
Boreholes for mountain lodges, ecotourism camps and guesthouses across the Chimanimani area, sized for hospitality needs.
Agricultural Boreholes
Boreholes for smallholder farms, communal lands and commercial agriculture in the Ngorima, Haroni and lower valley areas.
Solar Pump Systems
Off-grid solar pump installations for remote mountain properties without reliable grid access — complete systems from pump to tank.
Coverage Area
Our Chimanimani operations cover the town and the surrounding mountain district — Ngorima, Haroni, Martin Forest, Tilbury and all lodge and farm properties within the Chimanimani National Reserve buffer area.
For properties on the lower escarpment toward Chipinge or the Save Valley below, we carry the appropriate rigs for each geological setting. Our teams cover the full southern Eastern Highlands.
