Sebungwe Region Specialists
Gokwe District is one of Zimbabwe's largest administrative districts, covering the Sebungwe region of Midlands Province. The area is underlain by Karoo sedimentary rocks — the Ecca and Beaufort Groups of sandstones and shales — which are softer and easier to drill than the granite basement that underlies much of Zimbabwe. Borehole depths of 40–80 m are typical, and artesian conditions exist in some parts of the district where confined aquifers within the sandstone sequences are under pressure. Some areas also have elevated natural fluoride content, which our water quality testing identifies before pump commissioning.
Gokwe supports one of Zimbabwe's largest concentrations of smallholder cotton farmers, as well as communal livestock herders and a growing peri-urban population around Gokwe town. Reliable water is essential for all of these — for crop irrigation, livestock watering and domestic use. The Freddy Group drills and equips boreholes across the district, including in remote communal areas where grid electricity is absent and solar pump systems are essential.
