Borehole Drilling
in Hwange

Hwange's Karoo coal measures — the same geology that makes this Zimbabwe's largest coalfield — also hold productive sandstone aquifers that deliver reliable borehole water at 30–80 m for homes, mines and lodges.

Borehole Drilling in the
Hwange Coal Belt

Hwange sits on the Wankie Coalfield — Zimbabwe's principal coal mining area and one of the largest coalfields in Africa. The underlying geology is Karoo system sedimentary rock: a sequence of coal measures, sandstones and shales that are far softer than the granite basement typical of much of Zimbabwe. This geology makes drilling relatively straightforward, with productive aquifers often found in the permeable sandstone layers at 30–80 m. Some areas exhibit artesian conditions where confined sandstone aquifers are under pressure from overlying coal measures.

Hwange supports a diverse water-user community: Zimbabwe's largest coal mining operation (Hwange Colliery), one of Africa's premier game reserves (Hwange National Park), numerous safari lodges and camps, and a substantial urban population. All require reliable groundwater. The Freddy Group has the equipment and experience to drill for each of these users — from small household boreholes in Hwange town to high-yield supply boreholes for mining and hospitality operations.

Mining & Industry Boreholes

High-yield supply boreholes for coal mining operations, processing plants and industrial facilities across the Hwange Colliery area.

Safari Lodge & Camp Drilling

Boreholes for game lodges, photographic camps and safari operations within and adjacent to Hwange National Park.

Residential Boreholes
