Borehole Drilling
in Nyanga

Zimbabwe's highest and wettest district receives over 1,800 mm of rainfall annually — recharging a productive quartzite and basement aquifer system that consistently delivers excellent borehole yields at 25–60 m.

Borehole Drilling on Zimbabwe's
Highest Plateau

The Nyanga highlands are underlain by an ancient complex of quartzite, granite and schist — the same Precambrian basement rocks that form Mt Nyangani, Zimbabwe's highest peak at 2,592 m. High annual rainfall percolates through this permeable, well-fractured rock, creating a very active groundwater system with water tables that are often relatively shallow. Borehole depths of 25–60 m are typical in the Nyanga area, making it one of the more reliable drilling environments in Zimbabwe when sites are correctly chosen.

Nyanga's economy revolves around highland tourism, tea farming, apple and strawberry orchards, and trout fishing. Lodges, resorts and guest farms across the plateau require consistent water supplies — and with grid electricity unreliable at altitude, solar-powered borehole pump systems are a natural fit. The Freddy Group designs and installs complete solar borehole systems for remote highland properties, handling everything from siting through ZINWA permitting to final commissioning.
