Borehole Drilling
in Victoria Falls

Zimbabwe's tourism capital sits on Karoo basalts — a volcanic formation that, when correctly drilled, yields reliable groundwater for the hotels, lodges and residential properties that host visitors from around the world.

Borehole Drilling for
Zimbabwe's Tourism Capital

Victoria Falls town is built on Batoka Basalt — Karoo-age flood basalts approximately 180 million years old, which form the same rocky plateau over which the Zambezi plunges at the Falls. This basalt is well-fractured by the geological stresses of the Batoka Gorge system, and productive borehole aquifers are typically found in these fracture zones at depths of 30–70 m. The Freddy Group surveys each site to identify the most productive fracture targets before drilling.

The Victoria Falls tourism industry demands uninterrupted water supply: hotels, lodges, camps and guesthouses cannot afford a supply failure during peak season. A private borehole — backed by appropriate storage and a reliable pump system — gives hospitality operators the water security their guests expect. Beyond the tourism sector, Victoria Falls has a growing permanent population in Chinotimba and Mkhosana suburbs, where residents also benefit from private borehole water.
